The role of Jewish farmers in American agriculture was stressed in a report issued here today by the Jewish Agriculture Society which estimated the gross product of Jews in farming at $500, 000, 000.

While noting that there is a general decline in the number of small and minimally financed Jewish farm operators “as has been true of farmers generally in the United states,” the report points out that “the ones that remain have become integrated into the American farm community and are no longer to be considered as an immigrant group with special problems.”

The report listed a number of large Jewish producers of eggs, fruit and vegetables, cotton, beef cattle and sheep, many of them among the most efficient producers in the nation. Also stressed in the report was the role of Jews in operating many outstanding feed cooperatives in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. Jews are also prominent among the outstanding agricultural scientists and educators, the report pointed out.
