Jewish and Catholic leaders from seven South and Central American countries–all of them with influential Catholic majorities–convened here lest week to analyze interreligious relations. One goal is to create a coordinating group to improve Catholic-Jewish ties and to establish social to promote common ideals of peace, social justice and mutual understanding. The meeting was organized by the Latin American Episcopal Council and the Latin American Jewish Congress. Participants were from Argentina, Brazil, Costa Rica, Panama, Uruguay and Venezuela.
