A dispute over the Palestinian uprising triggered a serious clash last week between Jewish and Druse soldiers jailed in the Atlit military prison.
Six Druse soldiers were injured, two of them requiring hospitalization.
The incident was disclosed Sunday, after Druse leaders in Galilee petitioned the Defense Ministry to set up a commission to inquire into the incident.
The clash was reported to have started with an altercation over current happenings in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. But words quickly turned to blows, with both sides resorting to wooden clubs and iron bars.
The Druse claimed the prison authorities failed to intervene until the riot had gone on for some time.
