Jewish and Moslem shopkeepers and homes were the principal targets here of a series of pre-dawn bombings early today, evidently staged by the OAS, the French underground opposed to the planned cease-fire being arranged between the de Gaulle Government and the FLN, the Moslem independence movement.
While no deaths were reported, there were at least 12 casualties, most of them being Jewish or Moslems. The attacks, resulting in about 135 bomb explosions in a period of an hour and a half, were apparently aimed at the shops and homes of Jews and Moslems who had refused to contribute funds to the OAS.
Rows of shops were shattered in the explosions, and many of the stores were set afire. Police arrested 13 Frenchmen charged with committing the atrocities, and defused 15 bombs containing plastic explosives.
