Jewish and Opposition Lists Barred in Budapest Election

The Jewish ticket in the Budapest municipal election was disqualified today together with a number of other election tickets opposed to the present anti-Semitically controlled city administration. The election commission, which ruled the opposition tickets off the ballot, did so on technical grounds in order to ensure the election of an anti-Semitic municipality.

The opposition groups thus disqualified have filed suit in the courts. Meanwhile, however, they have joined with the Social Democrats and are urging their supporters to vote for the Social Democrats. Unless the courts grant the disqualified tickets an injunction the election of an anti-Semitic municipality seems assured in Sunday’s voting.
