Ruth Dayan, wife of Defense Minister Moshe Dayan, stated here that current tensions between Jews and Arabs in Israel stems from the Jews’ avoidance of social contacts with the Arab minority during the 20 years preceding the 1967 Six-Day War. “It is apathy on the part of the Jews that is to blame for Arab resentment.” said Mrs. Dayan, president of the Brit Bnei Shem Association for Arab-Jewish Understanding. Speaking at a meeting of WIZO, she said that although the Jewish establishment gave the Arab minority every material need and more, it never accepted them socially.
