Martin Schwartz, manager of the Jewish Art Theatre was arraigned in court for the second time within two months on a charge of violating the Sunday law by giving a theatrical performance on Sunday evening.
Counsel for Schwartz on the plea that the former cse is still pending obtained an adjournment until April 18. Schwartz contends that the Anathema is a religious play and that the Sunday night receipts are devoted to charity.
The case against Schwartz was brought by the New York Sabbath Committee.
