The authorities today dissolved the 25-year-old Jewish Artisans’ Association on the ground that it infringes upon a Government statute. The association numbers tens of thousands of members.
The Ministry of Trade has rejected a request by the Polish Merchants’ Council to prohibit Christmas sales by Jewish merchants.
Democratic Polish students expressed sympathy for and solidarity with Jewish students who refuse to occupy the government-sanctioned “ghetto benches” in Warsaw university. While many Jewish students are being beaten up by Endeks (National Democrats), others have been threatened with disciplinary measures by university officials for not complying with the “ghetto” order.
Endek students at Lwow and other university centers have launched an anti-Jewish campaign in connection with a plan of the Lodz municipality to establish a medical college. The Endeks assert the project provides for creation of chairs for Jewish scholars from Germany and Austria as well as learning facilities for Jewish students not admitted to other medical schools in Poland.
