Gaston Levi, French artist, has been commissioned by the city of Charleston to restore valuable old paintings in the city art gallery. The arrangements with the artist were made following restoration of Trumbull’s portrait of Washington, done by Mr. Levi some time ago. Mr. Levi told the clerk of city council that pressure of work in New York and a necessary trip to France would require postponement of the work, which was to be started this month, until the Fall.
