Members of the Rockaway Municipal life saving force for 1933, who have been honored for their work, include Louis Abelson and Harold Kramer, both of Brooklyn. They represented the United States in the Jewish Olympiad at Palestine two years ago and compiled records that were among the most notable in the meet.
Queens Borough Public Buildings Commissioner S. M. Strong, in charge of the Rockaway life saving force, cited the two Jewish athletes “because of their fearlessness and discretion in making more than a dozen rescues each during 1933.”
