Anna Langfus, Polish-born Jewish writer, was awarded yesterday the Prix Goncourt, France’s most important literary award, for her novel, “Luggage of Sand,” about a Polish Jewish refugee girl in France.
In the 59 years of Prix Goncourt awards, Miss Langfus is the fourth women to receive the award. She was a member of the Resistance in Poland until she was arrested by the Gestapo, surviving that experience. She went to Paris after Poland was liberated.
