A great sensation was caused by the suicide of Dr. Szalay, a Jewish banker here.

Dr. Szalay, who was 41 years old, was found dead in his home. His two sons, nine and seven, were found dead beside him. It seems that before taking his own life, Dr. Szalay shot his sons. When the police entered the room, they found them dead, with prayer books in their hands, open at the page where the death-bed confession is to be found.

The Jewish Education Association received two contributions of $500 each for scholarships from the estate of Joseph Eisenberg and that of the late Jonas Scheuer.
