Formation of a Council of Jewish Benevolent and Fraternal organizations, for the purpose of coordinating Jewish aid to the Russian people, was announced today by the Russian War Relief Society. Abraham Goldberg, Yiddish journalist, has been appointed chairman of the executive committee of the organization. Mr. Goldberg is Chairman of the Administrative Committee of the Federation of Polish Jews in America, and member of the Executive Committee of the World Jewish Congress.
Included on the Executive Committee of the Council are prominent Jewish leaders, among them Benjamin Winter, President of the American Federation of Polish Jews; Herman Hoffman, Grand Master of the Independent Order of B’rith Abraham; Harold O. N. Frankel, of the Executive Board of B’nai B’rith Rabbi Joseph H. Lookstein, Chairman of the Executive Board, Rabbinical Council of America; Sholom Asch, author; Sam Markewich, of the Executive Board, Independent Order of B’rith Abraham; and S. Low, of the Executive Council, Galician Jews of America.
