Plans for publication of the first Jewish prayer book ever printed in both Hebrew and English Braille, which will enable the Jewish blind to worship together with their sighted fellow Jews, were announced here today by the Jewish Braille Institute of America.
The project has been made possible through funds contributed by the affiliated sisterhoods of the National Women’s League of the United Synagogue of America, the women’s arm of Conservative Judaism. Ten Braille volumes will be included in each set of the prayer books, five for the Sabbath and festivals and five for the High Holy Days. They will be presented as a gift to each Jewish blind person requesting them from the Institute.
