The name of Dr. Matcos Konstantino, Jewish candidate on the Progressive party ticket in the municipal elections, was stricken from the ballot provided for yesterday’s elections.

Leaders of the party explained that Dr. Konstantino’s name had been removed because the candidate had allied himself with another party. In Jewish circles it is believed, however, that the fact that Dr. Konstantino is a Jew was responsible for the move.

In connection with the nationwide defeat suffered by the Integralist (Fascist) movement in the elections, the Jewish fight against anti-Semitism will be intensified.

More than two and a half million persons participated in the voting in twenty states. The total Jewish population of Brazil is over 50,000.
