The Jewish cemetery in Zamrinka, in the Ukraine, has been desecrated. Most of its tombstones were toppled and broken, according to reports reaching here today. According to the reports, local authorities promised to help repair the damage if the Jewish community does not make “a big fuss about it.”
Soviet immigrants from the Ukrainian city of Kharkov have appealed to President Zalman Shazar, Premier Golda Meir and the Dutch Embassy to help Solomon Greenberg obtain an exit visa. The immigrants said Greenberg was arrested in Kharkov last week with another Jew, Constantine Skoblinsky and that both were interrogated for three days about allegedly passing information to foreigners. The two were released on condition they remain in Kharkov while the investigation continues. The petitioners noted that Israeli citizenship was conferred on Greenberg recently at his request. The Dutch Embassy here represents Israeli interests in Moscow.
