There are now some 70,000 Jews living in Turkey, it was revealed here today in a survey released by the Jewish community. The survey as conducted prior to the recent wave of migration to Israel.
At that time there were 78,730 Jews in Turkey, over 7,000 of whom have since emigrated. There are nearly 16,000 family units among the Turkish Jews, the poll dis1osed. About 6,000 families are described as having a “satisfactory economic position,” while 10,000 are listed as having “average” means.
