Jewish Center Leaders Meet in Atlantic City

Members of the National Association of Jewish Center Executives gathered at the Hotel St. Charles today for an executive committee meeting and a series of round table talks preliminary to a joint four-day convention starting Saturday with the National Conference of Jewish Social Service and the National Council for Jewish Education.

The meeting took place in the morning, and was followed by a luncheon at the St. Charles Hotel.

During the afternoon two round table discussions were conducted, which were summarized by Moses W. Beckelman, of the Ninety-Second Street Y. M. H. M, in New York. The talks, of which Rabbi Aaron G. Robison, of Newark, was chairman, were:

“Interpreting the Jewish Center to the Board,” Maurice Bisgyer, Washington; “Health Activities.” Samuel Gershovitz, Brooklyn; “Aesthetic Recreational Activities,” William Pinsker, Brockton, Mass.; “Adult Education,” Herman Jacobs, New York; “The Summer Program,” Belle Bernstein, Paterson, N. J., and “Individual Guidance,” Harold Morris, Brooklyn.

Moses H. Chaseman, of Albany, President of the National Association of Jewish Center Executives, delivered his presidential address this evening.

GLUCKSMAN PRESIDES

The sessions tomorrow will be devoted to discussion of various Jewish center activities. Harry L. Glucksman, New York, will preside over the morning session, and reports on projects in Jewish centers will be presented by Jacob I. Cohen, Providence, “Jewish Youth Night”; Flora S. Levine, New York City, “Keren Ami,” and Paul Goldblatt, Harrisburg, Pa., “A United Community.”

At a lucheon tomorrow afternoon problems of the smaller city community center executives will be discussed by Philip R. Goldstein, New York City. Rabbi Julian L. Greifer, Binghamton, N.Y. will preside.

Moses H. Chaseman will act as chairman of the afternoon conference, at which committee reports will be presented. The reports to be presented are:

“Community and Social Service Agencies,” Allan Bloom, Indianapolis; “Cooperation between the Jewish Center and Jewish Educations,” Mordecai Soltes, New York City; “Development of Palestine,” George Hyman, Syracuse, and “Reconstruction of Jewish Life in Europe,” Miriam R. Ephraim, New York City.
