Through an arrangement with the Commission of Jewish Chaplaincy of the National Jewish Welfare Board, more than 50 active duty military chaplains in the US armed forces throughout the world are now receiving the Weekly News Digest of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency to keep them and Jewish soldiers informed on what is happening in Jewish life at home and abroad.
Robert L. Adler, Chicago Jewish communal leader who was instrumental in making this arrangement possible, stated that he “learned of a crying need” and “a tremendous thirst of Jewish news from chaplains stationed throughout the world.” He pointed out that the Jewish chaplains are furnished with a number of miscellaneous periodicals “but none are as truly newsworthy as the JTA publications.”
