A plan for the alternation of Jewish chaplains from various countries in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization among the troops of the different countries was agreed upon at a meeting of Jewish chaplains, it was reported here today by Rabbi Aryeh Lev of New York, head of the Chaplaincy Service of the National Jewish Welfare Board.
The conference at Ziest, Holland, which was attended by Jewish chaplains from the armed services of the United States, England, France, Belgium and Holland, also decided to establish a central clearing house for the exchange of religious materials and publications, with tentative headquarters in London. Rabbi Lev came to Europe at the invitation of the U.S. Air Force to attend a conference of chaplains of all faiths to discuss the religious needs of the NATO forces.
