The thirtieth Anniversary of the ### of the Jewish Chautauqua Society will be celebrated April 23th in Philadelphia by a Testimonial Dinner at Mercantile Club tendered to the founder and Chanceller, Rev. Dr. Henry Lerkowitz.
A representative body of men and women, including well-known leaders from other cities, will attend. Mr. Louis Marshall of New York will give the address on “Popularizing Jewish Education”. Dr. Abram Simon of Washington, head of the Society’s staff of lecturers, will present the notable service being rendered by the courses conducted at Summer Schools throughout the country, on “The Contribution of the Jews to Civilization”. Miss Jeanette Miriam Goldberg, the Secretary, will set forth the far-reaching field-work done by the Society and by its Annual Assemblies held in all parts of the country. Dr. William Rosenau, of baltimore, Vice-Chancellor and Dean of the Correspondence School for Jewish Teachers, is expected to represent his department. Dr. Israel Abrahams of Cambridge University, Engband, will tell of the establishment through the influence of this society of the courses on Jewish History and literature, at London University. Mr. Arthur K. Stern of Philadelphia. President of the Society, will preside.
The recent Assembly held in Kansas City, Mo. inspired that community to raise ten thousand dollars to inaugurate an Endowment Fund. This will be presented on this occasion.
