Mayor Robert F, Wagner today urged the young people of America to exchange letters with children in Israel as a means of getting to know one another better. This, he declared, can be “a contribution to world peace of inestimable value.”
The Mayor spoke at special ceremonies marking World Jewish Child’s Day at the Israel Consulate here under the joint sponsorship of Hadassah, Pioneer Women and the Mizrachi Women’s Organization of America.
World Jewish Child’s Day is observed annually to underscore the importance of Youth Aliyah, the international agency which has rescued and provided relief and rehabilitation in Palestine and Israel for more than 85,000 homeless Jewish children from 72 countries since its inception in 1934.
