Leaders of the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany assembled here today for the opening of the annual meeting of the Conference, which represents 22 major Jewish organizations in countries in North and South America, Europe and Australia.
The major business of the two-day meeting, which opens Saturday evening, is the allocation of approximately $10,000,000 in German reparations payments for the purpose of rehabilitating individuals and communities which suffered as a result of Nazi persecution. Delegates to the meeting were honored tonight at a reception tendered jointly by the Union of Italian Jewish Communities and the Jewish Community of Rome.
World leaders of the B’nai B’rith organization were honored here last night by the Rome Lodge of B’nai B’rith. Present at the reception were Philip Klutznick, world and American president, Frank Goldman, honorary president. Jack Morrison, president of the English lodges and Edwin Guggenheim, president of the Continental European B’nai B’rith movement.
