The Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany today announced that it will offer a limited number of international scholarships and fellowships to Jewish victims of Nazi persecution residing outside of Israel presently studying at accredited institutions of learning or engaged in research in Jewish studies. Recipients of the scholarships and fellowships will be selected on the basis of scholastic record and academic potential.
Scholarships on the undergraduate level will be awarded to students in Jewish institutions, including Jewish teachers seminaries; graduate scholarships will be given to students beyond the baccalaureate level studying at institutions of higher learning and specializing in Jewish studies; research and creative arts fellowships will be awarded scholars qualified to carry on independent scholarly, literary or art projects in a field of Jewish interest. Applications must be filed before June 1, 1954, from North America; before June 15, 1954, from other parts of the world.
The Conference also has a program for assistance to yeshivoth which is being carried out independently of this scholarship program.
