Yossef Salmona, secretary-general of the Turkish Chief Rebbinate’s lay council, the highest Jewish communal authority in Turkey, has been elected a member of the Istanbul Municipal Council. He succeeds Moise Cohen.

Meanwhile, it was reported from Izmir that B. Israel, leading member of the Jewish community there, has been elected to the Izmir Municipal Council.
