Jewish communal officials in Winnipeg, Canada, have instituted 24-hour security following last week’s desecration of a 90-year-old Jewish cemetery. Damage has been estimated at more than $60,000 at the Hebrew Sick Benefit Association Cemetery, where 219 headstones were toppled in the early hours of Aug. 10. No graffiti or anti-Semitic slogans were left at the scene, and police are uncertain as to whether to classify the vandalism as a hate crime.
