The seventh convention of the Argentine Federation of Jewish communities concluded here today with a special gala meeting marking the 50th anniversary of the Yiddishe Zeitung, a daily newspaper published this city.
Mark Turkow, Latin American representative of the World Jewish Congress, traced the development of Argentine Jewry in the last 75 years, stressing the role of the Yiddishe Zeitung and the paper’s founder, Matias Stoliar. Leon Dujovne, editorial writer of the paper, told the gathering that the paper served as a bridge between Argentine and world Jewry. Other speakers, included Dr. Isaac Goldenberg, president of DAIA, the central organization of Argentine Jewry; and Abba Geffen, Israel’s charge d’affaires here.
