In the directive, he referred to the tragedy as “the sorrowful consequence of the precarious situation of Moroccan Jewry. ” The Corriere Della Sera, Milan’s leading daily, discussed the plight of Moroccan Jews in a front page editorial and asked that the United Nations demand of Morocco that it respect the UN Charter and fundamental human rights.
