The Association of Jewish Communities in Poland, at a special conference in Warsaw, decided unanimously to accept the offer of the Rabbinical Council of America, an Orthodox group, to provide 100 tons of matzoth and 25 tons of matzoth flour for Polish Jewry as a gift of the Council, it was reported here today from Warsaw.
The report said that the letter offering the Passover gift to the Association was signed by Rabbi David Hollander, ex-president of the American rabbinical group. The matzoth, when received, will be distributed among Jewish families in large and small towns throughout Poland. A report on the American offer was made at the conference by Dr. Alexander Libo, president of the Central Council of Jewish Communities in Poland.
The conference, attended by representatives of Jewish communities from all parts of Poland, also discussed the question of how to prepare ritual slaughterers to take the place of the shochtim who have emigrated to Israel. It was decided to ask the communities to name candidates from their areas who, after being approved by the rabbinate, will be given the proper schooling at the expense of the Association of Jewish Communities.
