The “cordial cooperation” between the Federation of Yugoslav Jewish Communities and Yugoslav Government authorities, and that between the Federation and international Jewish organizations, were hailed in resolutions adopted by delegates to a conferance of the Federation here.

The delegates met to hear reports on its achievements during the past five years and to elect new leaders. The inaugural session of the meeting was attended by Charles H. Jordan, overseas director of the Joint Distribution Committee, and Dr. Gerhard Reigner, of the World Jewish Congress. The delegates elected Dr. Lavoslav Kadelburg as president, to succeed Prof. Albert Vajs, who dies a year ago.

In the resolution hailing the cooperation of Yugoslav authorities, the delegates expressed the belief that this cooperation would continue to develop, thanks to the national equality guaranteed by the Yugoslav constitution. The resolution on cooperation with international organizations cited the World Jewish Congress, the JDC, the Standing Conference of European Jewish Community Services, as well as associations of Yugoslav Jews in Israel, the United States and other countries.

Other resolutions dealt with youth activities, cultural activities, the financial problems of working out such programs in view of the cessation of funds from the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany, the decrease of JDC allocations, and the establishment of the Memorial Foundation for Jewish Culture. In connection with the first anniversary of the death of Prof. Vajs, the conference was told that the Federation and Yugoslav Jews in other countries had jointly planted a forest in Israel in his memory
