Frank L. Weil, honorary president and for ten years president of the National Jewish Welfare Board, has been named chairman of the Jewish Community Center Centennial Committee, it was announced today by Irving Edison, president of J.W.B.
The Center centennial will commemorate the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the first Jewish Community Center, the Baltimore Y.M.H.A., founded in 1854. Today there are 343 Jewish Community Centers and Y.M. Y.W.H.A.’s in the U.S., with a membership of more than 500,000.
