The new administrative council of the Jewish Community of Constantinople, decided today to reduce the salary of the Grand Rabbi of Turkey, Bejaranu Effendi from 260 Turkish liraper month to 160.
The decision of the administrative council was caused by the critical financial situation of the Jewish community and the withdrawal by the Angora Government of the annual financial subsidy, which the Turkish Government has hither to granted to religious institutions. This is in accordance with the new policy of the Angora Government to separate Church and State.
