The Jewish community of Poland is not expected to exceed 256,000 persons when all survivors have returned, it was stated here today by representatives of the Warsaw Government.
Dr. Edward Dreznik and Dr. Henry Kolodziejski, members of the Polish finance commission which came here to take charge of Polish assets in Britain, also told a group of prominent Poles here that 7,000,000 Polish citizens were killed by the Germans, including 3,250,000 Jews.
The Lublin radio today broadcast an announcement by the Central Committee of Polish Jews denying rumors that the Polish Government has not agreed to the return of Polish Jews now in Russia. It quoted the Soviet-Polish repatriation decree which was signed last Friday, and said that “returning Polish Jews will receive the same ressistance from the state as all other-Polish nationals, while the Central Committee of Polish Jews will give all possible help to returning Polish citizens of Jewish nationality.”
