A number of the major priorities in American Jewish communal commitments–at home, in Israel, and abroad–will be discussed at the Council of Jewish Federations and Welfare Funds’ national board and committee meetings beginning tomorrow through Monday at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel. The subject which the 200 Federation officers and executives from across the country will discuss and recommend community and CJWF action on will include: Special financing for the needs of the United Israel Appeal to help deal with Israel’s hard-pressed immigration and absorption programs; the implementation of the Council’s Task Force on Jewish identity to strengthen Jewish commitment among young adults in the communities and on college campuses; and recruitment and training of professionals for Jewish communal service.
