The Jewish Community of Buenos Aires today celebrated its 60th anniversary. The institution, which began as a burial society, has grown into a many-faceted center for lay and religious activities, both of a cultural and organizational nature.
The Community has become an influential factor in the lives not only of its members in this city but throughout Argentina, which contains the third largest organized Jewry in the world. All Jewish publications in Argentina have devoted considerable space to reporting the celebration and to publishing the history of the Community.
