The Jewish community of Geneva is celebrating its centenary this month, marking a law enacted in 1852 permitting the establishment of the first Jewish congregation here.

In honor of the centenary celebration, the Swiss Federation of Jewish Communities is holding its annual convention in Geneva this year. The problems of combatting neo-Nazism in Europe and of uniting Jewish organizations in Europe to solve common needs in education, cultural activities and communal work were discussed at the convention. The Federation has 27 affiliated communities with a total member ship of 3,900 families.
