The American Jewish Congress today requested J. Edgar Hoover, director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, to support amendment of a rule by Interpol, the International Police Organization,so that Interpol could cooperate in the capture and arrest of former Nazi officials accused of crimes against Jews.
Will Maslow, executive director of the AJC, sent a letter to Mr. Hoover, accusing Interpol of failure to cooperate in the arrest of Nazi officials accused of crimes against Jews on the grounds that, to do so, would involve Interpol “in domestic political controversies or internal racial or religious conflicts;” Interpol’s “gratuitous and needless restriction,” Mr. Maslow declared, has resulted in the escape of former Nazi officials.
