Dr. Israel Goldstein, president of the American Jewish Congress, upon his return today from Europe and Israel, declared that there was “every reason to believe that as soon as the French people wake up to the true character of the Poujadist movement and its sinister aims, they will disavow Poujade and consign him to oblivion.”
Dr. Goldstein said that the effect of the anti-Semitic campaign by Poujadists on the situation of the Jews in France was discussed at the recent meeting of the World Jewish Congress in London, in which he participated. He asserted that the tactics of Pierre Poujade, leader of the movement, “could be likened to those of Hitler.”
