The American Jewish Congress called on Superintendent of Schools Calvin Gross today to prohibit the showing of the film entitled “Christ the King,” scheduled to take place Friday in one of the city’s junior high schools.
In a telegram to Dr. Gross, the Jewish Congress called the showing “improper” and urged that “prompt steps” be taken to bar the presentation. It pointed out that “public school officials may not use public property and facilities of the public school system for the presentation of a sectarian religious viewpoint.”
