The American Jewish Congress has asked the World’s Fair for permission to picket the Jordanian Pavilion in protest against “false, defamatory and malicious material designed to incite hatred against Israel and the Jewish people.” The “material” referred to is the controversial mural on display in the pavilion which depicts an Arab refugee mother with a child in her arms expressing anti-Israel sentiments.
American Jewish Congress president, Dr. Joachim Prinz, sent a telegram to Fair president Robert Moses requesting that a permit be issued for next Monday. Rabbi Prinz said that he and 12 other Congress leaders plan to demonstrate.
