Anticipating a sharp increase in demand for service to the indigent tuberculous of the nation, the Jewish Consumptive Relief Association, operating the national, free and non-sectarian Los Angeles Sanatorium at Duarte, California, today revealed plans for a country-wide drive to raise $2,100,000 for post-war expansion.
The plans envision one of the largest post-war building programs yet undertaken by any Jewish institution in America, with the first two units alone costing $1,000,000 for buildings and equipment. Upward revision of a $1,000,000 goal announced several months ago was decided upon at a dinner meeting of the JCRA this week as a result of exhaustive studies of anticipated post-war health needs.
