Governor Carlos Lacerda, of Guanabara Province, today lauded the contributions of Brazilian Jewry to the country’s development. Gov. Lacerda, who spoke at dedication ceremonies of a new state elementary school building contributed by the Bloch family, prominent Jewish publishers of the popular illustrated weekly, Manchete, particularly hailed the achievements by Jews in the development of the cities of Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo.
