The resuits of the municipal elections in Jerusalem show that Ragheb Bey Nashashibi, the Mayor of Jerusalem, received nearly as many votes from the Jews as from the Moslem and Christian voters combined. He received 1,159 Jewish votes, 645 Moslem votes and 544 Christian votes.
Zaki Effendi Insaibi received more Jewish votes than Moslem votes and 466 Christian votes. Jamal ed-Din Effendi Husseini, the Secretary of the Arab Executive, recieved 31 Jewish votes, 741 Moslem votes and 294 Christian votes.
The organized Jewish vote carried everything before it. The Jewish candidates. Isaac Ben-Zvi. Isaac Eliashar, Haim Salomon and Eliah Shama were returned unopposed. The six candidates of the Nashashibi Party supported by the Jewish electors, 88% of whom went to the polls, were all elected at the head of the list and the remaining two seats were obtained by members of the Huseini Party.
The Jewish representatives will hold the balance of power in the new Municipal Council as between the two rival Arab parties.
