Continued efforts today to induce the Jewish delegation to join the National Minorities Congress, now in session here, failed despite several visits to the Jewish representatives by representatives of neutral groups. The Jewish delegation, prior to the opening of the congress, had notified the president, M. Wilfan, that it could not attend unless it were understood in advance that there would be unrestricted discussion of the German-Jewish situation and that the congress would condemn the deprival of the rights of the Jews in Germany.
President Wilfan and the Russian and Catalonian representatives, Kurtshinsky and Manspons, visited the Jewish representatives today and expressed their disastisfaction with the declaration of the German minorities group yesterday which attempted to justify the acts of the German government in “removing people of other races from the national body” and stating that these people are entitled to minority rights. The visitors declared they were still looking for a solution of the difficulty of Jewish participation in the congress.
