A demand that a special section for National Minorities in Bessarabia be established at the Roumanian Ministry of Interior was made yesterday by M. Landau, the Jewish member of the Roumanian Parliament, in a conference which he had with the Minister of Interior.
Deputy Landau appeared before the Minister of Interior with a complaint against the local Roumanian authorities in Bessarabia saying that they interfered with the budgets of the Jewish institutions and are cutting these budgets unjustly, thus depriving many Jewish institutions of means for their existence. The situation can be solved only by establishing a special department at the Ministry of interior for National Minority problems, Deputy Landau stated.
The Roumanian Minister of Interior promised to investigate the actions of the local authorities in Bessarabia and also to consider the question whether a special department for National Minorities can be established.
