Many Jewish doctors from Palestine who went to Abyssinia during the British campaign to liberate the country from the Italians have settled there in private practice and are helping to develop a public health system, it was disclosed here today by Norman Bentwich, former Attorney-General of Palestine and a legal adviser to Haile Selassie.
Dr. Bentwich spoke at a dinner marking the establishment of a Wingate Ward in the Princess Trahai Hospital in Addis Abbaba, the Ethiopian capital. He paid tribute to the late Maj.-Gen. Charles Orde Wingate, after whom the ward was named, who was killed in a plane crash in Burma several months ago.
