The last Jew is slated to leave Europe’s DP camps within six months, according to an announcement made here today by Zvi Lurie, head of the immigration office of the Jewish Agency in New York.
Lurie said that plans for emptying the DP camps of some 100,000 Jews who remain there were clarified today in Paris at the conclusion of a three-day conference of the Agency immigration executives from 13 European countries. The conference also decided to establish an immigration office in Tripoli to take care of the increasing flow of Jews from North Africa into Israel.
