Selective Service headquarters announced today that Jews ordered to report for pre-induction physical examination or for induction during the Jewish High Holy Days may seek deferment.
Instructions have been sent to local draft boards throughout the country to give “favorable consideration” to requests from Jewish registrants for deferment of examinations or induction until after the holidays.
