Educational aspects of the American Jewish Tercentenary were mapped here today by 75 leaders in education in Jewish schools, community centers, temples and synagogues, at a national education conference of the Tercentenary Committee on Religious and Educational Participation at the Hotel Roosevelt.
The conference considered specific program suggestions for Jewish schools. Harry Star. president of the American Association for Jewish Education. told the conference that “Jewish educators throughout the country have both an opportunity and a responsibility to utilize the American Jewish Tercentenary as a means of creating an awareness on the part of their students of the role young people must play in American life today.”
The American Jewish Tercentenary, which marks the 300th anniversary of Jewish settlement in the United States, will be launched officially on September 12th and will be brought to a close in May. 1955.
