No manufacturers in Vienna can employ Jewish work men unless they are housed in a separate room walled off from the workrooms used by “Aryans,” it is reported in German papers reaching here today. The Jewish workers are not even permitted to share the same lavatory facilities as the “Aryans,” the reports add.
Before hiring Jews, the employer must get a special permit from the Labor Office. This is granted only after inspectors certify that the prospective employer of Jews has complied with all the special conditions and has arranged his plant so that the Jewish employees will be completely segregated.
No retail establishment may employ Jews unless it employs at least five and has no “Aryan” help. A store so staffed can do business only with Jewish customers. The director of the establishment, however, must be an “Aryan.”
